Ski Mask
04:06
|
|||
Well the plan’s been hatched since the week before last
When Kathleen left and she ain’t come back
I bet my last dollar on a horse named cash
You can guess what happened with that.
So I borrowed a ski mask and my roommates gun
I’m gonna go downtown in the morning sun
Find a teller at the credit union
Say give me the money I won’t hurt noone.
Oh It’ll be easy
You ain’t gonna see me
Stuck in in your T.V.
On the morning news
The guy who bought my dirtbike
Has got a friend on the inside
He knows just what I
Aim to do
Cause I’m sick and tired of living hand to mouth
On a dirty mattress in a broke down house
If i had some flow I’d go down south
Start a new life all by myself
Or I could bust my ass for a dime a day
But you don’t get rich on honest pay
So I’ll take it all and be on my way
Now listen closely to what I say
I need a driver
Who ain’t got no priors
So you’re hired
Here’s what we’ll do
I took my brother Jimbo’s
Eighty-eight Fiero
Flies like an arrow
Fast and True
I ain’t had no luck of late but I feel my ship’s come in
I’m tired of being second rate it’s time for me to win
And if you see Kathleen won’t you tell her I’m okay
And I had had a thought about her since she left that day
But for what it’s worth For all that hurt
I’m sorry
Now Everybody get on the ground
Put your hands in the air and don’t make sound
Get the money in the bag and go lay down
If you don’t start trouble it won’t be found
Wow, hey there mister put away that gun
Don’t make me have to shoot someone
Oh my god what have you done
I was just trying to have some fun
Call Me a Doctor
And a lawyer
Make that my mother
I’m bleeding pretty bad
Tell Jimbo
About The Fiero
I Gotta Go

Party Pooper
04:01
|
|||
Have you ever caught the moment when people meet again
But they act like strangers though once they were great friends
One feigns a cool indifference as they lock eyes across the room
But prays the sordid situation will meet its death quite soon
And the calis act makes his partner cast sad eyes to the floor
A passed they shared died right there it ain’t coming back no more
Who woulda thunk
The world could be so cruel
Sorry babe this party’s pooped
I’ve got better things to do
Sometimes I get the feeling the shine is wearing off
Like the train just started rolling and I’m ready to get off
Like a forest blocks the sunrise or you’re trudging through a swamp
My stomach churns my eyes they burn so i fill my needs with wants
So I pickle all my heartbreak with liquor from the jar
And toast the goddamn ceiling fan until it looks like a star
Who woulda thunk
The world could be so cruel
Sorry babe this party’s pooped
I’ve got better things to do
It’s okay to cry, it’s okay to cry
I’ll tell them you’re not feeling well
When we say goodbye

Francine
03:13
|
|||
They Found her on the corner her name was Francine,
Twenty-six years old and a mother to be
She had a tattoo on her shoulder that read forever Dean.
A fifty in her pocket and a broken rosary.
There’s nothing like a murder to stir up a town
The doors get locked and the shades they come down,
Till the Sheriff says the perpetrator has been found,
Then it all gets forgotten about
Cause it’s seventeen fifty to go to the zoo,
Twenty-five if you include the icecream too,
When you could stay home and watch the news,
But you’d probably just get the blues.
Francine was a good girl, she never did no wrong
She was a saint until the day she was gone
When out one night and didn’t come back at dawn,
Her momma knew something was wrong.
She’d been fighting with her estranged ex-husband Dean,
He’d been shooting up instead of paying alimony,
A real ripe fruit from a violent tree
Dean was known to get rough with Francine
But the trail’s too far to go for a hike,
And it wouldn’t feel right drinking on a monday night,
So The man on the screen says coming up live
We’ll take you to the scene of the crime
Well the cops caught Dean just north of Duluth
They asked him the question and they wanted the truth
Dean denied but it weren’t no use
Forensics had all the proof
So they threw up a jury and a verdict was found
For laying his pregnant ex-wife in the ground
Dean Chinasky was to be put down
On a date they did not announce
And it’s a big cruel rock we ride round the sun
Trouble it happens to everyone
You can scream it ain’t fair at the top of your lungs
Some things can’t be undone

Hard Times
05:53
|
|||
I tore a hole in the coat that your old lady gave me for my birthday
And I’m wondering if it will ever go my way,
Or if I should just come home.
Cause this whole town don’t give a damn about my ups and downs
All my crying’s just another sound,
Wasted on bedroom walls.
Hard times come, hard times go
Everyday
Hard Times come, What do you do
When They Stay?
Momma wrote me, she told me Shelley’s getting married next sunday
And that she didn’t have the guts to call
No she said it “would break my heart”
That ain’t so bad, just another reason why I shouldn’t come back
I’d probably end up living just like dad
Angry and working at the mill
Hard times come, hard times go
Everyday
Hard Times come, What do you do
When They Stay?
Well I gotta go like I said I’ve got this jacket to sew
The wind is blowing the days are getting cold
Yes winter is back again
Tell your gal I’m fine, just had to get something of of my mind
Happy trails and until next time
I love you, I’ll call again
Hard times come, hard times go
Everyday
Hard Times come, What do you do
When They Stay?

Refuse To Dance
03:36
|
|||
I’ve been hearing lately that you’ve been doing funny things,
Like when you go out drinking, you take off your wedding ring,
I ain’t quite the man, I promised you I’d be but you know that I love you,
Don’t do this to me.
I come home from work and you’re yelling through the door,
Red faced as a cartoon, you can’t do this anymore,
I know that I’ve been trying, I can’t say the same for you, you can’t have your cake
and eat it too.
Well you loved me just this morning to send me on my way,
I come home in the evening and this is what you say,
You’ve got an awful feeling, since you took my ring, You’re a songbird in a cage
You’ve forgotten how to sing.
Whoever said love’s easy, didn’t have a clue
Or is it just the fact I gave my heart to you,
You’re begging me for castles but we’re living in the sand, It takes two to tango,
but you refuse to dance.

Ain't Got Time For That
02:42
|
|||
I broke down when she went away
cried my eyes out every day,
But the pain it stopped and closure came,
Now I ain’t got time for that
I ain’t got time for that,
no I ain’t got time for that,
I could dream about when her love was fat
But I ain’t got time for that
The Weatherman and preachers say
We’re all living in judgement day,
Well we better right boys, we better pray,
But I ain’t got time for that.
I ain’t got time for that,
no I ain’t got for that,
You won’t catch me in a tinfoil hat,
I ain’t got time for that.
A well dressed man knocked on my door
asked me who I’m voting for,
said we’ll tax you nothing give you more
no I ain’t got time for that.
I ain’t got time for that,
no I ain’t got time for that,
I’ll pay my share and I’ll take it back,
but I ain’t got time for that.
I don’t care about what you do
the god you worship or who you screw,
my concern is your heart is true
I ain’t got time for that.
I ain’t got time for that,
No I ain’t got time for that,
If we jump out a window, we’ll both go splat,
I ain’t got time for that.
So you can hang out in the dark
you can lock away your heart,
You won’t finish if you don’t start
You Ain’t got time for that.
You ain’t got time for that
you ain’t got time for that,
cause one you’re gone you don’t come back
you ain’t got time for that.
We ain’t got time for that,
we ain’t got time for that,
oh cause once we’re gone we don’t come back,
we ain’t got time for that.

The Legend
03:49
|
|||
It feels great to be good, in a mediocre town
It would take a tidal wave, to knock me ego down
Up at the local haunt, they all know my name
Ask the folks at the end of the bar, they’ll say my next stops fame
Ain’t it a shame, he never caught his break?
But when you live in dirt a pile of weeds looks like a rose bouqet
Weeknights and happy hours, the stage is all mine
I pick my songs, get half pissed and act like I’m John Prine
The pay ain’t all that hot, but that’s A-Okay by me
Beats the hell out of working retail and the drinks are free
Can’t you see, I’m where I’m meant to be
Stuck between standing still and living the dream
Sure I hit the road, but when I did no one showed
The grass looked green on that side but i prefer it mowed
That’s why I’m standing here, singing you this tune
And I’ll be back next week unless my break comes soon
What do you do, you gotta face the truth
I may not be a star but around here I’m the moon.
